During a visit to the beautiful Praça do Comércio, I stumbled upon a street performer singing soulful Portuguese songs. This remarkable woman, with a headscarf adorned with cranes and a distinctive mole above her lip, caught my attention. Initially, hardly anyone noticed her performance. However, as she continued to sing, a small group of ten listeners quickly grew into a crowd of over a hundred.
“Nobody cares till everybody does”
This transformation reminded me of a powerful line by UK rapper Kofi Stone: “Nobody cares till everybody does.” This profound realization inspired the creation of the “Portuguese Lady” design. It features the singer with her unique appearance and the Portuguese text: “Foi naquele momento que ela soube. Ela sabia que era verdade. Ninguém se importa até que todos se importem.”
