Inspiring the next generation through creativity
Last week, Mudguard had the honor of collaborating with RKC Waalwijk as part of the Community Champions project. For those who don’t know, RKC Waalwijk is a Dutch football club with deep community roots. Their Community Champions initiative is all about preparing young talents—mostly around 18 years old—for the real world. It’s a platform that pushes creativity, ambition, and personal growth to the forefront.
What went down at the workshop
We rolled up to RKC Waalwijk to run an exclusive Mudguard workshop, blending entrepreneurship, creativity, and real-world inspiration. Here’s how it went:
- Inspiration Session:
We kicked things off with a deep dive into Mudguard’s journey. From the hustle of starting up to the challenges faced along the way, we shared the do’s and don’ts of building a brand. The goal? To show these young talents that creativity and ambition can take them anywhere. - Hands-On Design Session:
After hearing our story, it was their turn to create. Each participant got the chance to design their own T-shirt, turning personal stories and ideas into wearable art. From sketching concepts to refining designs, the energy was unmatched.At the end of the session, the Mudguard design team picked a winning design. The best part? The winning T-shirt will be officially produced as part of Mudguard’s collection. Talk about turning dreams into reality!
Why this matters
The Community Champions project isn’t just about teaching skills; it’s about building confidence, inspiring creativity, and preparing young people for the future. Collaborating with a forward-thinking club like RKC Waalwijk allowed us to connect with the next generation of creators in a meaningful way.
We believe that fashion is more than just clothing—it’s a medium for storytelling and self-expression. Workshops like these are a reminder that anyone, regardless of their background, can turn their creativity into something impactful.
